Alex Black is a globally award-winning bartender and spirits educator with over 20 years of experience behind and managing bars.

As Cocktail Director for Canada’s Best New Bar (2022 & 2024) and one of the few people globally who can claim to be a WSET Level 3 Spirits Educator, he’s helped shape the country’s modern cocktail culture.

Named Vancouver’s Best Bar Personality (2018) and Global Winner of the Altos Tequila Tahona Society Collective Spirit (2018), Alex now leads Blacktending — offering consulting, education, and concept development for top-tier venues across Canada.

He currently oversees two Toronto properties recognized by the Michelin Guide.
